Traditional roles in companies are dying. The successful of the next 50 years are going to be those who are dynamic enough and entrepreneurial enough to constantly switch roles, learn new skills, and see challenges as creative opportunities to be overcome.
Likewise, the regions that will succeed the most are those that combine a big-picture optimism and excitement about the future with the work ethic and determination to actually build that future. Simply having ideas is not enough. Having ideas and the follow-through to successfully execute on them is more important.
The individuals who will flourish in these regions are those who have the entrepreneurial insight and the grit needed to launch ventures or guide existing ones through to fruition. These individuals are underserved by even the best schooling experiences. They need to get out into the marketplace and view where these opportunities really sit, and an internship simply is not enough time or depth to do this.
It’s with these reasons in mind that we launched Praxis, and it is after seeing our theories –that the best way for young people who want to build the future to start out is by getting in the trenches of free enterprise — play through to fruition over the past two years that we have decided to focus on a region that has the big-picture optimism and the work ethic and grit necessary to succeed. That’s why we’ve launched Praxis Pittsburgh.
We are looking for ambitious, entrepreneurial young people in the Western Pennsylvania region who simply won’t settle for the standard-issue job or standard-issue collegiate experience. If this describes you — I want to meet you.
And it is with this in mind that I am giving out $1,000 scholarships to participate in Praxis Pittsburgh. This means that you’ll get $1,000 towards the tuition for the program, all of which you earn back from a business partner, anyway. This is $1,000 in your pocket to participate in Praxis here in the Pittsburgh region.
