Most networking sucks. Networking events are miserable and almost entirely filled with salespeople all trying to find decision-makers (who themselves rarely attend). Networking advice is awful and feels transactional. Networking books and courses focus on the same tired advice that everybody uses and is no longer effective.

Simultaneously, it’s never been easier to connect with the most powerful decision-makers in your city, industry, or field of interest. Yet people are never taught how to do this! At best, they’re told, “go to this school or event, the network will be valuable,” without learning how to actually grow and use that network.

Luckily, I learned through trial-by-fire some of the best ways to connect with the right people. I shared them on the CareerMetis Podcast so you don’t have to waste away in awful networking events again.
